From knowing everything to knowing nothing, China's nuclear submarines have been tracked by the US a
In the 1950s, when talking about the development of the navy, the great man once said with great force: "It will take 10,000 years to develop a nuclear submarine."
The reason I said this is that at that time we were "completely suppressed" by the United States and Japan in terms of nuclear submarines.
When the United States and Japan are already researching the third generation of nuclear submarines, our domestically produced nuclear submarines are still "0". This is not only a gap in national defense strength, but also makes us have no say in the international arena .
Later, even though we developed the first generation of nuclear submarines, they were still ridiculed by the United States and Japan as "underwater tractors" because of their excessive noise.
But decades later, China has finally stood up in the field of nuclear submarines, even surpassing the United States and Japan.
"The Dilemma of China's Nuclear Submarine"
When the People's Republic of China was first founded, the country was in a state of disrepair and almost every field was at the "zero" stage.
And because we have no relevant experience before, we don’t know where to start even if we want to study it, and the same is true for nuclear submarines.
So at that time, in order to research nuclear submarines, we had to turn to the Soviet Union for help, hoping that they could sell us a few. In the end, we successfully negotiated a cooperation: China obtained the right to build the W-class (Type 613) conventional torpedo submarine .
Although the Soviet Union took advantage of this to "cheat" us out of a sum of money, overall, China's nuclear submarines have finally entered the exploratory stage.
In 1952, we officially established the country's first submarine base in Qingdao, but it was not until 22 years later that we produced the first Type 091 nuclear submarine, Chang Zheng 1.
Since then, we have expanded this type of nuclear submarines to 5, and the number is now Long March 5.
This is certainly a huge breakthrough for China, but in terms of strength, the performance of the Type 091 submarine is still far behind that of the United States and Japan.
The most obvious point is the noise. The noise of the Type 091 is as high as 160 decibels, while the noise of the Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine at that time had been reduced to 120 decibels .
For submarines, the higher the decibel level, the greater the likelihood of being detected by radar.
Moreover, nuclear submarines have always been called "stealth killers", but if their stealth performance is greatly reduced, it means that they cannot achieve effective strategic goals and may even become passive targets.
It was for this reason that Western countries at the time described China’s nuclear submarines as “underwater tractors.”
Such an evaluation is undoubtedly a great mockery of China's military.
In addition, in addition to having more advanced nuclear submarines than ours, the United States and Japan are also much stronger than us in detection technology. Therefore, once China goes up against them, it will have almost no ability to resist.
But the more we face such a situation, the more we need to develop our own new type of submarines.
"China's nuclear submarines are beginning to exert their power"
In 1978, the construction of the Type 092 nuclear submarine began, and this time it took only five years to be successfully developed and put into service.
To date, there are still four Type 092 nuclear submarines in service.
Since then, China's nuclear submarine industry has begun to develop rapidly, especially the emergence of Type 093 and Type 094 nuclear submarines, which has greatly enhanced China's national defense capabilities on the sea.
In 1996, the Philippines initiated the "South China Sea Arbitration Case" with the support of the United States. At that time, in order to defeat China in one fell swoop, the United States mobilized the "Independence" and "Nimitz" aircraft carriers to the South China Sea.
In addition, there are more than a hundred fighter jets and a dozen ships deployed in the South China Sea.
The Chinese People's Liberation Army was on high alert and refused to give up an inch of territory. The United States found no opportunity and had to retreat quietly. But in fact, this is related to China's development of nuclear submarines .
In fact, according to the situation at the time, the "China-US War" could be said to be on the verge of breaking out, and the United States' strength on the sea was obvious to all, with a very high chance of winning, but they were "scared" by China.
Some military experts have carefully analyzed this matter and said that the reason behind it is that China’s nuclear submarine "disappeared".
It turned out that we had docked our nuclear submarines at the submarine base in Qingdao, but after March 13, these submarines disappeared.
To be precise, the United States can no longer detect it.
There is no need to say what is behind this. We are definitely quietly sending nuclear submarines to the Taiwan Strait, and our target is the two US aircraft carriers .
Once a war breaks out, even if the United States can inflict a huge military blow on us, their two aircraft carriers will also have to pay the price.
Losing two aircraft carriers for Taiwan is not a good deal no matter how you look at it, so the United States finally chose to withdraw its troops.
There was another incident that happened in 2013.
At that time, Japan first announced that China's Yuan-class nuclear submarine had entered the contiguous zone of the Okinawa waters. Later, in order to "sanction" China, it also brought the United States in to monitor the movements of China's nuclear submarines.
But what made them panic was that after all their explorations, not only did they fail to detect any trace of the Yuan-class nuclear submarine, but after China sent out surface ships, their survey ship in the waters west of Kumejima was exposed .
In this confrontation, China can be said to have won a complete victory.
It was after this incident that Japan finally realized a problem: the development of China's nuclear submarines is no longer the same as before.
"The Advancement of China's Nuclear Submarines"
In 2017, the Naval University of Engineering developed a new technology - shaftless pump-thrust technology .
You know, even the United States has not been able to successfully develop this technology, which shows that China has already possessed scientific research soft power that is ahead of the United States.
Just talking about this technology, you may not have any idea about it, but if I tell you that it can reduce the noise of nuclear submarines, you will understand.
In terms of stealth materials, Beijing Institute of Technology has used "terbium (tè) dysprosium (dī) iron" materials in nuclear submarines .
With the help of this material, a sound wave can be generated that can offset the noise of a nuclear submarine, making it impossible for the enemy's radar to detect it.
Today, the noise level of my country's Type 093B nuclear submarine has been reduced to 100 decibels, which is lower than that of Russia's Kilo-class conventional submarine and can be called an "underwater ghost."
In 2021, the USS Connecticut went to the South China Sea and had a "collision" experience.
But what is strange is that after they fully turned on the detection equipment, they didn't see even a shadow nearby, which shows how rapidly China's nuclear submarines are developing .
In the future, the noise level of China's Type 095 and Type 096 nuclear submarines will even drop to 90 decibels, which will directly surpass the US Seawolf-class nuclear submarines with only 95 decibels.
By that time, if the US aircraft carriers wantonly intrude into the South China Sea or "provoke" us on the sea, they will have to think carefully.
What do you think about this matter? Feel free to share in the comments section.
