[Global Times-Global Network Special Correspondent Yin Miao] On January 20, local time, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen issued a statement on social media, emphasizing Denmark's position on the Greenland issue and responding to the economic pressure that the new US President Trump may impose on Denmark.

In her statement, Frederiksen revealed that she had a 45-minute phone conversation with Trump a few days ago, but the conversation did not reassure her about Trump's intentions. She said: "This is a long conversation that will continue in the future."

She further stressed that the Danish government has communicated with European allies and received broad support. She said, "We must remember that Denmark is not alone, we stand with the EU."

Regarding the bilateral relationship between the United States and Denmark under Trump, Frederiksen pointed out: "Since World War II, the United States has been our most important ally, and it is vital to maintain this alliance. In the face of global challenges, especially in the Arctic, we must show real action and increase our presence in the region, even if it will cost billions of dollars."

Frederiksen finally emphasized that the Danish government will continue to take positive measures to ensure that Denmark's sovereignty in Greenland is not affected while maintaining its traditional partnership with the United States.
