China, Russia to crack down on counterfeit Russian goods in China
Reference News Network reported on January 20 that according to the Russian Satellite News Agency on January 19, Veronika Nikitshinna, general manager of the Russian Export Center, said during the "Made in Russia" festival exhibition held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, northeastern China, that Russia and China will crack down on counterfeit Russian goods sold in China.
The "Made in Russia" festival fair was held at Shenyang Shengjing Department Store from January 17 to 25. Shenyang citizens will have the opportunity to learn about high-quality products from more than 120 manufacturers from more than 40 regions of Russia. The exhibition has a special tasting area where visitors can try Russian products for free and buy their favorite products directly from the manufacturers. The exhibition also provides an exclusive negotiation area for Russian companies and Chinese business partners to discuss cooperation opportunities and new projects.
Today, goods from Russia are rapidly becoming popular in China. Retail stores with signs that say "Russian goods" have opened in many cities across the country. However, in some stores, counterfeit goods or goods that are not made in Russia are being sold under the guise of Russian goods.
Nikitishina said Russia had signed an agreement with Liaoning regulators to crack down on counterfeit Russian goods in the province. She said she hoped other Chinese provinces would adopt the same approach. She said Chinese residents are now showing a strong interest in Russian goods, and cracking down on counterfeit goods is an important task this year.
Nikishina also said that the Russian side's task is to reach an agreement with Chinese provinces on a systematic fight against fraud. She also said that relevant mechanisms are being established, and Chinese regulators will ensure that the partners of the Russian export center and the stores of trusted partners are promoted to the maximum extent among Chinese residents, while those stores that sell under the guise of Russian goods will be strictly supervised and punished to avoid Chinese residents having a bad impression of Russian goods.
